Project 1 : Establishment of Germplasm Bank of Aegle marmelos (correa) Bael in Chhattisgarh

Status : On Going.

Objective :

  • Selection collection of Germplasm species.
  • Developing seedling from collected Germplasm.
  • Planting of Germplasm material
Description / Findings :

A Project for providing High quality based Planting material of Aegle marmelos is funded by State CAMPA in the Year, 2013 for Three years. At present, marking of 17 plus tree of nearest divisions (Korba,Janjgir-Champa,Bilaspur & Raipur) was done by the SFRTI Raipur. Along with this, nursery is made & planting material is collected from different sources for the establishment of Germplasm Bank & also an experimental plantation is under progress. Belgahna plus tree is best finding come out of this project because its fruit size above 4.50 kg and good pulp taste, soil adaptability, best growth, leaf colour darkest green, we have established Belgahna germplasm in SFRTI. Aegle marmelos fruit is most important of our health and economy. So we should always preserve this plant.
